Ernie K-Doe is often quoted as saying “All music is from New Orleans” (or words to that effect).  The magazine Oxford American takes a larger perspective, and suggests that the state of Louisiana has a pivotal role in the creation of popular and folk music in the United States.  This includes French music: Cajun and Creole.  This is their 14th annual music issue, which is accompanied by a music CD.  It’s on sale now, but won’t last long.
