The Pine Leaf Boys is one of the best young Cajun bands, incorporating an energy and drive that youth gives. Wilson Savoy is on accordion, then switches to ‘tit fer (triangle) halfway through. (He’s also a talented fiddler.) Courtney Granger is on fiddle and vocals. They’re performing “J’Etais au Bal” (“I went to the dance”). It’s about a man who goes to the dance every night to dance and court the young ladies. No location on this performance other than “the Coffeehouse.” Just before the 3:00 mark, listen to the accordion player change keys, which usually results in a very happy crowd reaction. That’s not easy to do on an instrument designed to play in one key! See them at the 2012 Festivals Acadiens et Créoles on Sunday, October 14 at 2:15 pm on the Scène Ma Louisiane (Festival Stage).
