THE festival for Cajun, Louisiana Creole and zydeco music for New Orleans is this weekend, June 9-10, 2012.  The Louisiana Cajun-Zydeco Festival is the largest and best lineup of any festival in so short a period, including the Jazz Fest, which is spread over two weekends.  In fact, it’s the Foundation that puts on Jazz Fest that pays for this festival.  And it’s free, Free, FREE!  The fest is in the French Quarter, in and around the Old Mint, at the foot of Esplanade St. so it’s easy to find.  Everything’s within walking distance.  There are 21 groups and artists on three stages.  For the first time, D. L. Menard will perform.  He’s 80 now, so go see him at every opportunity.  And it’s also the Creole Tomato Festival in the French Market!  But bring the rain gear, because occasional showers are predicted–or just duck into a bar or restaurant, your call.  Here’s the lineup:
