The short list lineup for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival (Jazz Fest) has been announced.  Only a few Cajun, Creole and zydeco bands are part of this preliminary list of the big name acts.  They are Buckwheat Zydeco, Rockin’ Dopsie Jr and the Zydeco Twisters, BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet, the Pine Leaf Boys, Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, and Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience.  More complete lists for the first weekend and the second weekend are also available.   The dates for Jazz Fest are April 27-May 6, 2012.

The first weekend detailed list has Amanda Shaw, Buckwheat Zydeco, Sunpie and the Louisiana Sunspots, Pine Leaf Boys, Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas, C. J. Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band, BeauSoleil avec Michael Doucet, Savoy Music Center of Eunice Saturday Cajun Jam, Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie, Roddie Romero and the Hub City All-Stars, Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, D. L. Menard and the Louisiana Aces, Goldman Thibodeaux and the Lawtell Playboys, Hadley J. Castille Family and the Sharecroppers Band, and Cameron Dupuy and the Cajun Troubadours.

The second weekend detailed list has Rockin’ Dopsie Jr and the Zydeco Twisters, Wayne Toups & ZyDeCajun, Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience, Dwayne Dopsie and the Zydeco Hellraisers, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Bruce Daigrepont Cajun Band, Feufollet, Red Stick Ramblers (Cajun + Gypsy jazz), Lil’ Nathan and the Zydeco Bigtimers, Jambalaya Cajun Band, Rosie Ledet & the Zydeco Playboys, Joe Hall and the Cane Cutters, Belton Richard and the Musical Aces, Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band, Robert Jardell, Lesa Cormier and the Sundown Playboys, Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble, Kristi Guillory and the Midtown Project (she’s a Cajun accordion player, but I don’t know this band), and Jeffrey Broussard and the Creole Cowboys.
