Wilson “Boozoo” Chavis was born in Lake Charles, LA in 1930 and died in 2001.  He was primarily involved with training horses but had a huge regional hit with Paper in my shoe in the 1950s, almost rivaling Clifton Chenier’s popularity.  But he dropped out of the music business for decades, returning to great popularity.  This performance comes from an older  UK documentary film, Aly meets the Cajuns.  Aly is Aly Bain, Scottish fiddler.  The song is also known as Pepper in my shoe.  Find out more about Boozoo in Michael Tisserand’s book The Kingdom of Zydeco
