Here are Balfa Toujours playing the old waltz Chère bassette. On stage from left are Courtney Granger on violin and vocals, Kevin Wimmer on second fiddle, Ray Abshire on accordion, Christine Balfa on guitar. I don’t recognize the drummer or bass player. Dirk Powell, the regular accordion player is not with them. They are playing on the second stage at the 2008 Festivals Acadiens et Créole. You’ll see the band, then dancers and the band again. Chère bassette (translates roughly as ‘dear short one’) was originally recorded by J.B. Fusilier, according to Raymond E. François’s book Yé yaille chère.
