August 15 is the Acadian National Day, as celebrated in eastern Canada, primarily New Brunswick.  It was chosen in 1880 at the First National Acadian Convention.  My photos from the 2009 celebration in Caraquet, New Bruncwick, which calls itself the Capital of Acadie.  It’s a beautiful little town, on the Baie de Chaleur, or Heat Bay.   Today folks in costume will be walking up and down the main street, engaging in the ‘Tintimarre,’ making lots of noise.   Bon fête!
