Today’s video, here in the depths of summer, with everyone away on vacation, except you and me, here’s Keith Frank and the Soileau Zydeco Band.  They are playing at the Shakori Hills GrassRoots Festival in Pittsboro, North Carolina.  It must be in the mountains, judging by the jackets that they’re wearing in April.  I don’t recognize the song; it’s probably one of Keith’s many originals.  Keith is the son of Preston Frank, a great Creole accordionist.  Keith’s fame peaked in the years following Beau Jocque’s death in 1999.  There was a time he was the hottest performer in zydeco.  He isn’t a Beau Jocque imitator, but has a sound of his own, alongside the more traditional Creole music he plays.  Keith has recorded for many labels:  Zydeco Hound, Shanachie, and Maison de Soul, before creating his own Soulwood (not updated since Feb. 2010) label.  And his last release seems to be 2008.
