Here’s a university newspaper article on a pair of sisters, Moriah and Elista Istre, at Arkansas State University (Jonesboro, Arkansas), both in the Ph.D. Heritage Studies program.  Both started at the University of Louisiana – Lafayette for bachelor’s and master’s degrees beforemoving on to Arkansas.  Heritage Studies is defined as “identification, assessment, preservation, interpretation, management and promotion of historic and cultural resources for non-specialist or “public” audiences..”  Sounds like what they used to call Museum Studies, but perhaps it’s for a wider audience.   Younger sister Moriah is working on a film about Creole and Cajun music.  Bring it on!

Moriah is also the winner of the 2008 Caffrey Award for her paper “Festivals Acadiens in Southwest Louisiana: A Cultural Expression.”
