The Lost Bayou Ramblers are also playing at Loyola University New Orleans tonight, on a double bill with Feufollet. I’ve just posted a video for them, so here’s the Ramblers at Downtown Alive, the weekly Friday evening free performance in Lafayette. They’re doing a medley of “Oh Bye Bye” and “Bluerunner,” the great Creole fiddle tune. That starts at about 4:55 in the video. And love the lap steel they use, for a nineteen thirties-forties feel. That was the string band era that nearly killed off the accordion, until Nathan Abshire, Iry LeJeune and Lawrence Walker brought it back after World War II.
