Here’s accordion player Harry Trahan with the Valse de Kaplan (Kaplan Waltz).  According to the notes, he’s playing at the Augusta Festival in 2005, following recovery from a stroke.  You’ll find accordion tablature and lyrics at the Cajun SqueezeBox Blog.  His daughter is Lisa Trahan Reed, married to Mitchell Reed.  She has been a member of the Magnolia Sisters, playing bass, and recorded on Harry’s only CD:  A la maison, self-released in 2001.   Kaplan {Google Maps link] is a small town in Louisiana, southwest of Lafayette, among such storied places as Maurice, Abbeville, and others.   It’s been recorded by Nathan Abshire, Andrew Cormier & the Rambling Aces, the Balfa Brothers, Kristi Guillory, the Mamou Prairie Band, the Savoy-Doucet Cajun Band, and others.  It’s one of my favorite songs:  “Oh, moi je m’en va…”  (“Me, I’m gonna go…”)
