A brief note on the Gibson Guitar web site noted the death of guitarist Philip Walker. The article says: “He was hired by Chenier in 1953, and played for the zydeco king for nearly four years.” My discography has the note: Guitar player. Recorded with Clifton Chenier in the mid 1950s for Art Rupe’s Specialty Records. Don’t have a list of the tracks on which he played, but that should be the release Bayou Blues. Specialty history and another one and a discography. My guess is that the association was only for these sessions. Chenier’s primary guitarist was Paul “Lil Buck” Senegal, sometimes spelled Sinegal. Condolences to family, friends, and colleagues. We’ve losing them too fast, friends! Enjoy these musicians while you can.
