If you’re still jonesin’ for some great music and dancing post-Jazz Fest, there’s the Gulf Coast Zydeco Music & Crawfish Festival on May 14-15 in Daphne, Alabama.  Daphne’s just across the bay from Mobile, making it about two-hour drive from New Orleans.  Amazingly, this event is indoors, at the Daphne Civic Center (2603 US Highway 98, Daphne, AL‎ – (251) 626-5300‎).   The doors open at 5:30 pm on Friday with dance lessons until 8:30 when the music begins, ending at 12:15 am.  Saturday cranks up at 1:00 pm and runs through midnight.  Performers include Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie Friday and Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble on Saturday.   Dance lessons will be available both days.

The alligator on the site is either sweating or crying, can’t tell.  And pigs don’t play banjos, especially to zydeco, but what the heck!
