D. L. Menard has released his first album in fourteen years.  His last was Cajun Memories in 1995.  The new one is called Happy Go Lucky and was released by Swallow Records.  The CD contains twelve songs that appear to be all originals.  Menard is a guitarist and singer and writes most of his songs.  Menard is best known for his song Port en Arriere (The Back Door).   There’s one song that ‘s recorded before, La vie d’un vieux garcon (A Bachelor’s Life).  Clips are available on the Flat Town Music site.   He’s backed up other musicians, such as Horace Trahan and was part of a trio with Marc Savoy and Dewey Balfa.  Menwad was born in 1932, so he’s about 77 years old.  Menard performs at this year’s Festival International in Lafayette and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
