Queen Ida Guillory, zydeco musician and cookbook author, has a great interview on the National Endowment for the Arts web site.   She’s a 2009 winner of the NEA’s National Heritage Fellowship, which honors “American folk artists for their contributions to our national cultural mosaic.”  She’s been in zydeco longer than any woman.  Way to go, Queen Ida!  And she’s covered in Mark DeWitt’s book, Cajun and Zydeco Dance Music in Northern California: Modern Pleasures in a Postmodern World.
