Jim and Mary Jaillet have been blogging their travels as Ramblin’ Man on the Seattlepi site.  They’ve just visited Junior Martin of Martin Accordions in Breaux Bridge.   Junior is one of the best and most in demand accordion makers.  They are highly prized by musicians; Bruce Daigrepont plays nothing else.  Martin’s is a musical family, with his grandson now an accomplished musician, as the video in this post makes obvious.  Martin and family are usually in the Folklife Village at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.  They’re ready to show accordion making and last year Joel and Junior played a short set in the Village–sandwiched between sets at the nearby Fais Do-Do Stage.  Though Junior makes accordions, he has only recorded as a pedal steel guitarist, their video shows him seated behind one and one photo has him playing.
