The Original Southwest Louisiana Zydeco Music Festival is a major event in South Louisiana, a two-day long marathon of zydeco music.  It’s held in a soybean field near Plaisance, Louisiana on Highway 167, about 10 miles northwest of Opelousas.  Unfortunately their web site at http://www.zydeco.org/ is not active.  Google has a cached version, but it only covers their home page, so there’s no comprehensive list of performers.  A news story in the Opelousas Daily World says that J.J. Caillier and the Zydeco Knockouts are playing.  I’ve never been but understand it’s a big, empty place, with only one oak for shade.  Bring your own, if you go!  One web site gives the contact as:  Southern Development Foundation,  (337) 942-2392.
